The nomination forms and trial dates / venues can be viewed / downloaded in the forms section of the web site. Players interested in attending a trials should download form, complete it, have Principal sign the form and return to Kim Williams at Australian Rugby League Development (ARL) details are on the form. 5 region trials are offered - Ferntree Gully, Cranbourne, Geelong, Balwyn, Dallas. Trials dates 27th,28th, 29th, 30th April. Nominations close 23 April. VPSSA Golf Competition

The 2010 golf entry form can be found in the forms section of the web site. The entry form should be downloaded, completed, signed by Principal and returned to Victorian Golf Association. Details are on the form.Eligible players must be in grades 4,5,or 6 at a Victorian school affiliated with VPSSA. Schools are encouraged to complete a group entry, using the group entry sheet, rather than completing numerous individual forms. No money is to accompany entry forms. Entry fee payment of $10 to be paid on the day at the venue. Players are asked to select a venue they wish to play at and nominate that venue of their form. The closing date will be 10 days prior to the advertised date of the 50 plus qualifying events. Country students will notice that a number of qualifying events are being held on a Sunday and being conducted by the local golf club. Metropolitan events will be on a week day. Players will play 9 holes and will be endeavouring to qualify for one of the regional finals. Players entering qualifying events will receive a follow up email prior to the event, confirming their entry and details of the event.Approximately 1600 primary school students enter this event. Districts have now lodged thier entries for the Regional Tennis Program for this year.The winner of the district event becomes the singles player and players finishing 2nd and 3rd become the district doubles combination. The district team is a team of 3 players in the Boys/mixed stream and / or 3 girls in the girls stream.
9 Regional tennis events will be conducted.

Each player qualifiying for Region Tennis Championships has been provided with a flyer outlining details of the event.
Registration for teams in boys/mixed competition is at 8.30am.
Registration for teams in girls competition will be at 12 noon.
The entry fee for participation is $10 per player, payable in cash prior to the player taking the court.
At the conclusion of the region championships, teams finishing first and second in boys/mixed and girls competition will proceed to state finals to be held at Bendigo on May 17th. Successful district teams at each regional event will receive a flyer with details of the state championships.
Following the VPSSA State Championships a number of players, born 1998,1999,2000 will be invited to attend a state team trial, together with year 7 players born in 1998. Following a series of trials, the 2010 Bruce Cup Tennis Team will be selected. This team will represent Victoria in Bendigo at the National event in October.
All players and spectators are reminded of the VPSSA Code of conduct which will apply at all VPSSA events. This code will be on display at each venue. Players and spectators failing to uphold the VPSSA Code of Conduct risk being disqualified from the event.
Trials for VPSSA Representative Teams 2010

Students aged 10, 11 12 years are eligible to trial in a number of sports to gain entry to the district, zone,region or state representative team. To be eligible, students need to attend a school affiliated with VPSSA and be born in 1998,1999,2000. Each school nominates up to 5 players to attend a district trial. Trials are usually held after school and are arranged by the district sports committee. Trials are held in the following sports - basketball, netball, soccer/football, Aust. football, softball, hockey, tennis, cricket and rugby league. All schools have the opportunity to nominate students. Each school has received nomination forms to be copied and handed to players. When completed and signed by the principal, these forms are forwarded by the school to the district secretary. The district committee advises each school in the district of the date, time, venue and any cost associated with the trial. Although the skill level and standard of players who reach the final level of selection is high, schools need to provide students with the opportunity to realize their potential at a district level.The district committee conducts the district trials and advises successful players of the details of the next level of trials - the zone trials. The zone committee conducts the zone trials and details of these trials will be posted on the relevant zone web page. Successful players will be advised on the day as to the details of the region trial. The region committee will conduct the region trial and select a region team. Successful players will be notified of the details of the final level of trials - the state trials.Entries / nomination forms must be returned to your school and forwarded to the district secretary no later than March 25th. All district trials are to be completed by April 23rd, all zone trials completed by May 7th, all region trials completed by May 21st. State team squads in most sports are selected during May/ June/July. Some sports will involve attendance at a state camp during the July school holidays.

12 year old year 7 students are eligible to trial for a 12 years state team. Secondary school students complete a different nomination form (on this web site) headed 12 year old Secondary School Nomination Form 2010. This form is forwarded to VPSSA office and players will be assigned to a zone trial. Communication will be to player's home contact details. Closing date for year 7 12 year olds is April 16th.

Teachers are asked to refer to newsletter in mail out no. 1, delivered to all schools in the first week of term 1. Details regarding the nomination process for students wishing to trial for district, zone, region teams and closing dates are to be found on the VPSSA Wall Planner and in VPSSA Handbook. Nomination form for cricket (boys and girls 12 years and under) is included in the mail out. This form is to be completed and returned to Cricket Victoria by February 18th, details are on the form. Teachers requiring additional forms are asked to copy the form and provide to interested players. Nomination form for Australian football, soccer, netball, basketball, hockey is included in the mailout. Forms to be completed by parents of nominated players, signed by principal and forwarded by your school's sports co ordinator to the district secretary/ zone officer. No forms are to be forwarded to VPSSA office. Nominations for these sports close on March 25th. Players born in 1998,1999 and 200 only are eligible to trial.Tennis 2010
District secretaries are asked to seek nominations from players /schools wishing to participate in the district tennis competition. A singles competition is to be conducted at district level for girls and boys/mixed streams. Eligible players need to attend a primary school affiliated with the VPSSA and the local school sport district. Following the district singles event, the first 3 players will form the district team of 3 (1st singles player, 2nd / 3rd form the doubles combination.) District tennis competitions to be completed by March 19th. Each district is eligible to enter one girls team of 3 and one boys/mixed team of 3 in the region championship. Schools should refer to the VPSSA calendar for the dates and venues of the region championships. region tennis championships commence week 2 term 2. Entry forms for district teams will be forwarded to all district secretaries during first week of term 1.
District Secretaries: A number of districts are yet to inform the VPSSA of any changes to the district secretary contact details. Information will be forwarded to the name listed as the secretary in the VPSSA Handbook 2010 pages 8-16. If changes have been made, please advise VPSSA office (on 9488 9466) to ensure information relevant to the district is forwarded by our office to the correct person.
Regional School Sport Conferences:
In February 2010, the 8 regions will each be conducting a professional development day. We encourage representatives from each school in the region to attend. These meetings provide new sports co ordinators with an opportunity to understand how school sport operates in your district, zone and region in addition to finalising the planning for school sport for terms 1 and 2 at your local level, ensuring students from your school have every opportunity to participate in quality sporting events. As 2010 is a transition year, further information will be available at these meetings about the changes for 2011. The dates for each region meeting are on the VPSSA Wall Planner / calendar, commencing February 16th. The 8 region conveners will be in contact with each school, providing details of venues, times and agenda for the day. We ask that each teacher responsible for school sport at their school, seek permission from their principal to attend the full day professional development. CRT reimbursement for the school is available for teachers attending.

All players who have qualified to represent their region teams need to be advised of a change of date to the Country Trials. These trials will now be on Monday June 1st at Darebin International Sports Centre. These trials for country teams were scheduled for Friday June 5th. The venue and the times (girls in morning, boys in the afternoon) remain unchanged.The regions affected by this change are Opperman, Forsyth, Moneghetti and Dobson. All players selected to represent their region at the VPSSA Basketball Camp during the July school holidays at Coburg Basketball Stadium, need to be advised. The format for the camp has been changed, in response to a number of concerns from country families involved in travelling to Melbourne for 4 days. The girls will now be required to attend on Monday June 29th and Tuesday 30th June from 9am until 3pm. It will now be 2 full day sessions, with a short break at lunch time. The boys will be required to attend on Wednesday July 1st and Thursday July 2nd for 2 full days. Payment for the camp will be required when players register - Monday for girls, and Wednesday for Boys. Due to the increased participation numbers in the sport of tennis, 2009 sees the introduction of 8 Regional Tennis Championships. Eligible players must attend an affiliated primary school and enter via the district tennis competition. Players must be turning 10 years of age in the year of competition. Players advise their school of their interest or schools may nominate players to attend a district singles competition.
